Transneft Commissions REM High-Voltage Electric Motors Plant in Chelyabinsk
On 24 October 2018, an opening ceremony of the RUSSIAN ELECTRIC MOTORS (REM) plant was held in Chelyabinsk. The new plant was built to produce high-voltage electric motors in the Russian Federation as part of Transneft's import substitution initiatives.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and G. Conte, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, who had come to Moscow, together gave the permission to launch the plant from the president's residence via video conferencing. In response to the command from the Kremlin, N. Tokarev, President of Transneft, S. Zecchinato, Operations Director of Nidec ASI S.p.A., and V. Bondarenko, Director General of Konar, pressed the symbolic button, and the first electric motor of the plant was started and brought to the rated operating condition.
