Transneft Siberia Inspects PS Facilities at Zapolyarye – Purpe OTP

Transneft Siberia has inspected the PS facilities at the Zapolyarye – Purpe OTP.

Transneft Siberia has completed the programme for monitoring the technical condition of the pipelines and installations in the line part, process equipment, buildings and installations at the oil pumping stations of the Zapolyarye – Purpe oil trunk pipeline for 2020.

The geomonitoring of the facilities condition has been performed together with Transneft R&D, Giprotruboprovod and Transneft Diascan. Under inspection were the design parameters and quality characteristics as well as the proper level of technical maintenance of the buildings and installations of the Zapolyarye – Purpe OTP, initial Zapolyarye PS-1 and intermediate Yamal PS-2. The main goal is to ensure reliable operation, industrial and environmental safety of the oil trunk pipeline facilities located in the permafrost area.

Two cycles of monitoring the horizontal location and elevation of the facilities as well as the temperature profile of turfs each have been completed on 4,400 thermometric wells of the pipeline’s pole footings along with HVLs in the line part, buildings and installations at the Zapolyarye IPS-1 and Yamal PS-2. The operability and effectiveness of 98,200 turf heat stabilisers have been estimated. Geophysical and geological investigations of 13 line sections running through the permafrost area have been done.

In addition, airborne laser scanning and digital aerial photographic surveying of the line part to the length of 484 km as well as of on-site facilities have been carried out to detect any deviations in structural parameters of the buildings and installations and develop exogenous geological processes.

The surface laser scanning of IPS-1 and PS-2, including the development of 3D models of these stations, with a total area of 85 ha, was done for the first time in 2020 to monitor the horizontal location and elevation of buildings and installations at the oil pumping stations.

What’s more, a model of information monitoring of the OTP line part operation has been commissioned, including modules for the collection, processing and visualisation of data of geotechnical monitoring, in-line inspection, investigating the laying conditions as well as the planning and control of geotechnical monitoring activities.

The analysis of the works performed has shown that the design parameters and quality characteristics of the buildings and installations at the Zapolyarye – Purpe OTP comply with the required standards.
