Dmitry Artyukhov, Governor of Yamal, and Nikolay Tokarev, President of Transneft, have discussed the Company's participation in social projects of the region. In particular, they discussed the construction of two sports facilities — an ice hockey field and a swimming pool — in Korotchayevo settlement (a housing estate in Novy Urengoy), as per the press service of the Governor. Residents of the housing estate have repeatedly asked for the construction of these facilities, and today Transneft has said that it is willing to finance these projects.
“Transneft’s activities play an important role in the development of Yamal. The Company creates strategic infrastructure for hydrocarbons extraction which allows generating revenue for all of Yamal’s budgets, including the federal level. In recent years Transneft has implemented major projects in our region. First, it is the Zapolyarye – Purpe pipeline which has already allowed to substantially raise the production volumes and continues contributing to their increase,” said Governor Artyukhov.
Nikolay Tokarev said that Transneft planned to develop Yamal social projects in the future. The Company creates the infrastructure that is necessary for the comfortable life of Yamal residents. For example, it includes transport and utility sites and contribution to solving the housing issue. At the end of last year, the Arktika modern sports complex was opened in Korotchayevo, which was built within the framework of the agreement between the Company and the region.
Transneft commissioned the Zapolyarye – Purpe northernmost oil pipeline in Russia in 2016. Its construction enabled the development of Yamal’s major oilfields, Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye and Pyakyakhinskoye.
About 1,500 employees work in the Yamal region (Korotchayevo in Novy Urengoy; Gubkinsky and Noyabrsk in other settlements).
In accordance with the agreement on cooperation with YaNAA, Transneft builds utility, social and housing infrastructure facilities as well as facilities necessary for the Purpe — Samotlor and Zapolyarye — Purpe oil pipelines operation.
