On Friday, 7 September 2018, Transneft Volga Region, a subsidiary of Transneft, celebrated its 65th anniversary. Dmitry Azarov, Governor of Samara Region, congratulated the Company on the anniversary.

Transneft Volga Region operates oil trunk pipelines in the following six regions: Republic of Tatarstan, Orenburg, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd and Rostov Regions. However, the city of Samara and Samara Region have been the 'centre' of the Company since its foundation in 1953.
The total length of oil and petroleum products pipelines operated by Transneft Volga Region exceeds 4,800 km. Each year, the Company's pumping stations pump 152 million tonnes of commercial oil, both to Russian refineries and for export. The Company is one of the largest taxpayers and makes a significant contribution to the economy of the region.
Congratulating the Company's employees on the anniversary, Dmitry Azarov, the head of the region, stressed that activities of Transneft and its subsidiary Transneft Volga Region are very important for the region.
'We are certainly strategic partners. And I want to thank you for your contribution to the region's economy. 152 million tonnes is a third of the total volume of oil transportation in the country. This is very important for Samara Region,' said the head of the region.
Dmitry Azarov noted that the regional government is doing everything possible to ensure the participation of Samara Region in the Europe – Western China international transit corridor. Meanwhile, thanks to Transneft, the region has already been an important transport corridor for several decades.
'This gives us significant advantages: the Company creates jobs for highly paid and highly qualified employees and stimulates income growth of Samara Region’s residents,' said the head of the region.
Transneft Volga Region also makes a significant contribution to environmental protection. The Company invests in improving the environmental situation, and the results of its activities, according to Dmitry Azarov, can serve as an example for other enterprises.
The head of the region highly appreciated the social policy of the Company, which supports educational and healthcare institutions and regularly participates in various activities at both the city’s and the region’s levels. In particular, Transneft Volga Region was involved in the preparation and holding of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and organised of a number of events within the City Day celebrations.
'This indicates the Company’s high responsibility. I hope that the glorious legacy of Samara’s oil industry workers will be preserved and multiplied,' said Dmitry Azarov.
Employees of Transneft Volga Region received regional awards during the anniversary celebrations. For example, Vladimir Krylatov, a 5th category pipeliner at Buguruslan Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate, received the title of an honoured oil industry worker of Samara Region. In addition, Dmitry Azarov presented diplomas of merit and commendations from the governor to a few employees.
The Company itself, represented by Director General Dmitry Buzlaev, received a commemorative tokenvFor Participation in the Organisation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the City of Samara.
