IAOT Governing Board Holds Its Regular Meeting

The 16th meeting of the Governing Board of the International Association of Oil Transporters (IAOT) was held on 10 November 2021.

Participating in the meeting from Transneft were Vice Presidents Pavel Revel-Muroz, Sergey Andronov, Deputy Vice President Vladimir Kalanda.

The meeting reviewed the results of energy efficiency programmes. The joint work performed in 2016-2021 by the IAOT participants on comparative criteria of energy efficiency in the process of oil transportation over trunk pipelines has led to significant results. The average specific electricity consumption among the IAOT member companies in the first half of 2021 decreased by 2.2% compared to the previous year. During the last five years it has gone down by 8.1% (13.85 thousand kWh/million tonne km to 12.73 thousand kWh/million tonne km).

The meeting participants reviewed a report on the first session of the IAOT Centre of Excellence (COE). The programme included lectures on the key issues of crude oil transportation and storage, discussions and business cases, considering different technical approaches, legislation and economic realities. The discussion highlighted the importance and relevance of the issues reviewed. It was agreed that COE's next session will be held in 2022.

The work of the permanent expert group for operations was also reviewed, followed by the approval of the action plans and budget of the IAOT for the year to come.

The Governing Board's members discussed participation in Transneft International Youth Science and Technology Conference as well as options for holding the international Best in Profession contest amid the pandemic.

The participants also considered an IAOT statement on cyber threat awareness.

The seventeenth meeting of the IAOT’s Governing Board will be held in May 2022 in Minsk, the Republic of Belarus.

The International Association of Oil Transporters (IAOT) was established to coordinate the efforts of its members aimed at effective development of their oil transportation systems with an eye on higher stability of crude oil transportation in the world.

The IAOT members include MERO C.R., Transneft, TRANSPETROL, Gomeltransneft Druzhba, MOL, KazTransOil, China National Petroleum Corporation, Ukrtransnafta, JANAF. Caspian Pipeline Consortium has an observer status.
